2. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using From Paper (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

These Terms supplement the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple EULA). Where these Terms conflict with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA prevails. The Apple EULA is available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/.

3. Description of the App

From Paper is a document scanning application for iPhone and iPad. The App allows you to scan documents using your device’s camera, import photos, enhance images, and export PDFs. All processing happens entirely on your device — the App operates fully offline and makes no network requests.

4. Free Trial and Purchase

  • The App offers a 7-day free trial with full functionality.
  • After the trial period, creating new scans, importing photos, and editing pages require a one-time in-app purchase (“From Paper Premium”) at the price displayed in the App Store.
  • The purchase is non-consumable and permanent — there are no subscriptions or recurring charges.
  • Viewing, exporting, and deleting existing documents remains available without purchase.
  • All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple’s terms and refund policies.

5. Right of Withdrawal (EU / EEA Consumers)

Under EU consumer protection law, you have a 14-day right to withdraw from a digital content purchase without giving a reason.

However, by confirming your in-app purchase through the App Store, you consent to immediate delivery of the digital content and acknowledge that this may affect your right of withdrawal as permitted under Directive 2011/83/EU (Article 16(m)).

For refund requests, please contact Apple Support directly through your App Store purchase history or at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple processes all App Store transactions and handles refunds in accordance with their policies and applicable law.

6. User Content

All documents, scans, images, and PDFs you create with the App (“User Content”) remain entirely yours. We do not access, collect, store, or transmit your User Content. Everything stays on your device.

You are solely responsible for the content you scan, import, and create. You agree not to use the App to reproduce documents in violation of applicable laws, including but not limited to counterfeiting currency, forging identity documents, or reproducing copyrighted materials where reproduction is prohibited.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

From Paper collects no personal data, usage analytics, or tracking information. The App operates entirely offline and contains no third-party SDKs or analytics code. The App is designed in accordance with the data minimization principles of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law (including EU Directive 2009/24/EC on computer programs).
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App or any part of it.
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels in the App.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, source code, icons, and branding, is the property of the developer and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws, including Polish copyright law (Ustawa o prawie autorskim i prawach pokrewnych) and applicable international treaties.

These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand assets beyond what is necessary to use the App as intended.

10. Conformity and Statutory Rights

For EU / EEA consumers

Under the EU Digital Content Directive (2019/770) as implemented in Polish law, you have statutory rights regarding the conformity of digital content. If the App does not conform to what was agreed or to objective requirements, you are entitled to have the App brought into conformity, or to receive an appropriate price reduction.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes your statutory consumer rights under applicable EU or national consumer protection law.

For all users

We aim to provide a reliable scanning experience. However, scan quality depends on factors outside our control, including camera hardware, lighting conditions, and document quality.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law and without prejudice to your statutory rights:

  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
  • Since all data is stored locally on your device, you are responsible for backing up your documents. We are not liable for data loss resulting from device failure, app deletion, operating system updates, or any other cause outside our reasonable control.
  • Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or in-app purchase.

This section does not apply to liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence under Polish law.

12. Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate with any third-party services. When you use your device’s built-in share functionality (AirDrop, Mail, etc.) to export documents, those actions are governed by the respective third-party terms.

13. App Store

Your use of the App is also subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.

In the event of any failure of the App to conform to applicable warranties (to the extent not disclaimed), you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if any). Beyond that refund, Apple has no further warranty obligation with respect to the App.

14. Dispute Resolution

EU Online Dispute Resolution

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform to resolve disputes related to online purchases: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be posted here with an updated date. If changes materially affect your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice (such as an update note in the App Store).

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Poland.

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the consumer protection law of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms affects your right to rely on such mandatory provisions. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of your place of residence.

For all other users, any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts competent for the developer’s registered place of business in Poland.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
